I'm Grateful

For the almost idealic childhood I had in the western United States. I got to spend lots of time outside playing with friends, family, and alone. My parents showed me love and support in tangible ways. I learned how to catch a fastball from my brother, about dancing from my older sister, about sticking together through really hard things from my younger sister. We were also fortunate to have foster brothers who taught us a little bit about their heritage.

Almost daily I am made aware of how many children grow up differently than me. Not only do they not have the freedom to roam independently (like I did), but they have some very tough challenges that I can only empathize with.

I am grateful.
